GRAD CARD ETIQUETTE
All the dos and don’t to announce your graduation to your friends and family in style.
Congratulations
on your upcoming graduation!!
This is such an exciting time to share with your friends and family and custom graduation announcements are the perfect way to share all of your accomplishments with them!
As with any invitation, there’s proper etiquette that should be taken into consideration when announcing your graduation. Use the tips in the following pages as a guideline when sending your invites, announcements, and thank you cards.
INVITATIONS
It’s always best to send your invitations 4 to 6 weeks prior to your graduation celebration. Grad products typically take 10-15 business days from the time you place your order til to arrive at your home. So begin planning your invitations at least 8-9 weeks before the big celebration.
Check your guest list and add a few extra cards - it’s always better to play it safe when considering your grad card quantities. You’ll appreciate having a handful of extra cards on hand for those ‘oops, we missed them’ moments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Not having a celebration? Or are you having a celebration but have a large number of family and friends that live outside of a reasonable travel area to come to your party? Announcements are a great solution for this. Consider ordering announcements along with your invitations for those friends and family members so they don’t feel like they’re missing out.
Unlike grad invites, announcements are typically mailed out much closer to the graduation ceremony and even up to 1 month after your senior has graduated. Still keep in mind the 10-15 day turn around for grad announcements when placing your order.
THANK YOU CARDS
If you are sending invitations or announcements, you are bound to receive gifts! Because of that, thank you cards are a must have item in your grad collection. Thank you cards should be sent within one month of your celebration or from the date you received the gift.
Do not send out a thank you note with a typed generic greeting. Show your appreciation for your gifts with a hand written note.
Here are a few tips to follow when writing your thank yous:
Thank your guest for the specific gift they gave you
Include a note about how you plan to use it
Consider sharing a fun moment you had with them at your celebration
Try not to write your thank you notes all at one time. Break it up within a few days to make sure your words are thoughtfully written.
